Emergency Management Director

General Statement of Duties

The purpose of the Director of Emergency Management is to manage the preparedness for, response to, and recovery from disasters or emergencies which occur within the boundaries of Marion County; to plan for and manage the County’s 911 Communications Center and 800 MHz communications system; and to perform related professional, administrative, and supervisory work as required. Remains on call 24 hours per day, seven days per week, for emergency response. This position reports to the County Administrator.


Minimum Qualifications

Requires Bachelor’s Degree or education and training equivalent to four (4) years of college education. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.  Successful completion of all required state and Federal required courses. Requires six (6) to ten (10) years of public safety experience, with at least two (2) years of management level experience.

Paramedic

Department: Emergency Medical Services

Pay: $26,104/yr

General Statement of Duties

Under limited supervision performs various activities necessary in administering first aid to and transporting sick/injured persons to medical facilities. Coordinating with other response agencies, exercises responsibility for patients at scene and during transport. Performs operational duties as maintaining machinery and equipment, completing various forms and documents, general cleaning task, etc. Reports to Director of Emergency Services.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum training and experience includes high school diploma, applicants must have a valid SC Paramedic certification or qualify for recipocity, BLS, ACLS, and PALS, provide certifications and be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license, have no criminal record, be at least twenty-one years of age and submit to pre-employment.

Part Time Correctional Officer

General Statement of Duties

Under general supervision performs a variety of activities pertaining to the County Jail in accordance with established policies, regulations and procedures. Performs those prescribed tasks such as guarding and directing inmates, patrolling assigned areas, escorting, preparing reports, inspecting property, preventing disturbances, supervising trustees, maintaining facilities, etc. Reports to immediate supervisor.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High school education with successful completion of required training from the Criminal Justice Academy as required; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid S.C. Drivers license. Must be available to work every Sunday during Prison Camp visitation hours and be on the on-call status Monday - Saturday.

Under general supervision exercises responsibilities for the enforcement of state and local laws in relation to public safety and welfare.  Exercises independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations, exercising safety practices and procedures.  Works under stressful, high risk conditions.  Reports to assigned Corporal or Sergeant.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent, ability to complete the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.  Must have a valid SC driver’s license.  Must be able to maintain required level of proficiency in the use of firearms, and evasive action/driving skills.
